In 2020, Malaysia has been hit by COVID-19 pandemic which not only caused the economic downturn in Malaysia but also globally.

The implementation of the Movement Control Order (PKP / PKPB / PKPP / PKPD) starting 18th March 2020 had a direct impact on business establishments such as temporary or permanent closure of establishments, changes in business model, retrenchments, emergence of new establishments/ industries or the occurrence of changes/ changes in the industry within a short period of time.

Therefore, in order to obtain accurate information on the impact of this pandemic on the national economy, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) is conducting the Annual Economic Survey 2022 (AES 2022) for the Reference Year 2021 commencing 15^th April 2022 until 30^th September 2022.
